Baby Sleeper in TENCEL™ Waffle - Mauvewood
Buy Any 3 & Save 10%
Settled sleep on a cool night: soft against the skin, with a waffle weave that holds a little extra warmth right where a baby needs it.
Earthy mauve — the grown-up pink.
Waffle-weave TENCEL™ sleeper. Same fiber as the smooth-weave sleeper, different surface — the waffle structure traps small air pockets across the fabric, which is why it feels warmer than its weight and breathes better than a flat-knit at the same weight.
Why TENCEL™ here. We choose the fiber by the job. For a piece worn close to the skin and washed often, we use TENCEL™ Lyocell — it keeps its softness and shape through repeated laundering and moves heat and moisture off the skin. For our lightest warm-weather pieces — muslin swaddles, 0.5 TOG sleep bags, and crib sheets — we choose Tanboocel® Bamboo Viscose muslin, because an open muslin weave breathes best in the heat. Two premium fibers, each picked on purpose.
Material. TENCEL™ Lyocell in a waffle weave, with spandex for stretch. Wood-pulp fiber that Lenzing produces in a closed-loop process — 99% of the water and solvents get recycled back through the production line. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. The waffle does the air-pocket work. The spandex handles the shoulder-stretch problem at 7:30 p.m. when you're getting a sleepy baby's arm through. Softer than cotton, and the waffle holds its texture through multiple washes without flattening into a regular knit.
The print. Earthy mauve solid with a subtle warmth — closer to terracotta than baby pink. The nursery-decorator pink.
Construction. Fold-over hand cuffs (newborns) that fold back as the baby grows. 2-way zipper that opens from the bottom for diaper changes without unzipping past the chest. Reinforced seams at the shoulder and crotch — the stress points on a sleeper that gets pulled on and off twice a day. Tagless inside the neck. The waffle structure is built to handle the dryer without flattening for the first hundred cycles — the loft is structural, not just texture.
When to choose waffle over smooth. The smooth sleeper is the everyday workhorse. The waffle is the one that gets photographed and the one that gets requested by name. Same warmth, more visual texture, slightly different hand. Most households end up owning both.
Adjacent products. Pair with the matching 1.0 TOG TENCEL™ Sleep Bag for a coordinated sleep set. For toddlers walking confidently in the crib, the 1.0 TOG sleepsuit is the next step.
Sizing. 0–3M, 3–6M, 6–9M, 9–12M, 12–18M, 18–24M. Size to current measurement. A sleeper that's too long bunches at the hands and ankles and rides up overnight.
Care. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron printed panels. The fold-over cuffs are designed to be stretched and released a few thousand times without losing shape.
Safety & certification. AAP safe-sleep compliant. Tested to CPSC, CPSIA, and ASTM standards. Material certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Loulou Lollipop is a Certified B Corporation.
Common questions
Are TENCEL™ pajamas better than generic bamboo pajamas?
For longevity, yes. TENCEL™ keeps its surface through repeated, heavy laundering. TENCEL™ Lyocell holds its surface after multiple washes, which matters because pajamas are the most-washed item in the nursery. The pajamas your baby still has at 18 months are TENCEL™.
What temperature should baby's pajamas be?
Pajamas are the under-layer, not the sleep system. Match weight to the room: long-sleeve TENCEL™ under a 1.0 TOG bag for 69–75°F nurseries, short-sleeve under 0.5 TOG for 75–81°F, sleeper under 2.5 TOG for 61–68°F. The bag does the warmth math.
Why fold-over cuffs?
Newborn fingernails grow fast and the baby scratches the face long before the parents can keep up with trimming. Fold-over cuffs cover the hands without mittens that fall off. Around 4–6 months, fold them back — the baby wants the hands free.
