Why silicone?
Health Canada says, “Silicone rubber does not react with food or beverages, or produce any hazardous fumes.” Silicone is a polymer mostly made from silica (sand) oxygen. It can withstand heating and freezing without leaching or off-gassing hazardous chemicals – unlike plastics utensils, which contaminate food in these environments.
Food grade silicone is durable, soft like rubber, unbreakable, and often referred to as ‘soft glass’ due to its resilience, non-porous surface, and sustainability. It is resistant to odor and stains, hypoallergenic, and because of its smooth surface, very easy to clean. For these many reasons, food-grade silicone is the perfect material for eco-friendly and non-toxic baby products.
IS IT MICROWAVABLE?
Our silicone bowls and plates are microwave oven safe. The cutlery IS NOT! Be sure to leave the infant feeding spoon and stainless steel spoon and fork set OUT of the microwave! When your baby starts using his or her utensils, there’s always a steep learning curve. Our toddler learning spoon and fork set is perfectly sized for little hands to encourage self-feeding with chunky easy-grab handles.
